Venue
Vassivière Island is 60 km east from Limoges, on the route to Beaumont-du-Lac between the departments of Haute-Vienne and Creuse.
By car: From the north (Paris): highway A20 direction: Limoges, after Limoges exit 35 direction: Feytiat/Eymoutiers, then Beaumont-du-Lac, Lac de Vassivière, Ile de Vassivière.
From the south (Toulouse): highway A20, north of Uzerche exit 42 direction: «Lac de Vassivière» to Eymoutiers then Beaumont-du-Lac, Lac de Vassivière, Ile de Vassivière.
By train: From Limoges take the train to Eymoutiers train station, direction: Ussel/Clermont-Ferrand. The Centre international d'art et du paysage is 15 km away from Eymoutiers, then taxi (Eymoutiers taxis: phone (+33) 05 55 69 12 04).
By plane: International airport Limoges Bellegarde.

The wood of sculptures
The wood of sculptures is free and open all year round. It has been developed over the years since the very first artistic project took place on the island. French and international artists are invited regularly to produce and place a work in the park: Adel Abdessemed, Marco Boggio Sella, Andy Goldsworthy, Olivier Mosset, Ilya and Emilia Kabakov, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Michael Sailstorfer, Victor Man...

The documentation
The documentation is a real place of resources, open to all visitors : curious, students, teachers, researchers.Rich of more 12000 books, gathering monographs, exhibition catalogues, essays, architecture, landscape, as well as about 30 subscriptions and the archives of the Centre d'art, the documentation propose to its visitors more than 300 videos and documentary from its video funds, to view on the spot.

The bookshop
The bookshop gave as requirement to offer to a diversified public a set of sharp references in contemporary art, urbanism, architecture, sculpture, design, photography or new media. The bookshop also carries a big interest in the relations between art and landscape. Following the exhibitions programme and the catalogues published by the art center, a singular selection of books chosen by the invited artists is proposed to the public; enriching and diversifying the available book collection. Besides the organization of events, the bookshop also presents a wide selection of magazines, artist editions, CDs and DVDs, and artistic books dedicated to the youth, allowing to open the glance on artistic creation and feeding the reflection and the sensibility of each.

The educational service
The educational service proposes all year round various teaching activities adapted to the requests of the partners of national education and associations: meeting-visits with accompanying notes of the exhibitions, the building and the park of sculptures; visits, workshops, artistic initiation and animations around the relay of the Limousin's artothèque.

The artothèque relay
The artothèque relay has a permanent collection of original prints, photographs and drawings: as in a library, they are consultable on the spot and can be borrowed. The artothèque relay proposes laboratories of understanding of contemporary art.
