Reporting on an exhibit by Claude Lévêque is often a difficult task, since the many environments that this artist creates are based on the concrete experience of the visit. The work recomposes precisely the trajectory of the exhibit 1000 PLATEAUX. Indeed, in addition to structuring the order of the images in the book, this is the object of a film transposed to DVD. Add to this a CD with the recording of the sound installation in the Art Center, a presentation text and an interview held by Chiara Parisi with the artist. The latter offers an interesting exchange on the way that Claude Lévêque works with the context in which he is invited to exhibit, here the post-modern architecture of Aldo Rossi.

Panthéon was conceived by Huang Yong Ping as a place to welcome all the philosophies, a syncretic space, an archetypal form, a Utopia-producing machine. The spaces in the Art Center were rethought by the artist as places “where all the gods” can mix together. And this catalogue pursues this primordial questioning by Huang Yong Ping: “in a time when globalization is increasingly spreading and in a world long abandoned by the gods, what meaning can the Pantheon have?”

This catalogue lets us enter a collection in a private space that belongs to Marc and Josée Gensollen, who have succeeded in prolonging the minimal and immaterial aspect of the work organized with so much care for the exhibit presented at the Art Center at Vassivière. For this edition and as a continuation of the exhibit, they asked artist Yann Sérandour to lend his unique and highly original contribution.
